Casa Palopó: A Luxury Boutique Hotel on Lake Atitlan

Nestled in the hillside, high above the shores of Lake Atitlan is where you’ll find Casa Palopó, a Relais & Château boutique property. It is an award-winning 5-star accommodation that welcomed us with its sophisticated rustic décor and its airy feeling of luxury!

This stunning property is truly a “hidden gem” and we had the most relaxing time enjoying the indescribable views of Lake Atitlan and its three majestic Volcanos!

The Spot

Casa Palopo is located in the town of Santa Catarina Palopó on Lake Atitlan. If you’re coming from either Antigua or Guatemala City, you’ll be able to arrive via car/taxi or uber.
When you get there, you enter the property through its main entrance and are greeted with the most jaw-dropping view!

The Vibe

The hotel is bursting with vibrant colors, and boats a quiet intimate atmosphere that invites you to take a deep breath and do what you came there to do…and that’s relax!
The reception area was easy to find and when you arrive, you are given a “welcome drink” made of freshly squeezed juice!
Aside from the beautiful views, there are also two private pools, a jacuzzi, a spa, and a gym on the property for its guests to enjoy.
We spent most of our time overlooking the volcanoes from the private infinity pool!

The Space

We decided to stay in the Santa Clara suite in the main building at Casa Palopó.
Each room is uniquely decorated with an ode to the Mayan and indigenous culture.

The main building has seven charming, spacious rooms to select from along with an additional private villa above the main building for larger groups.

Extras and Amenities

On the property, there are plenty of places to relax and enjoy the sun with two pools and lots of hidden reading “nooks”.
The hotel restaurant, 6.8 Palopó, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner – with plenty of vegetarian options. The food here is as luxurious as the hotel so you’ll enjoy the freshest ingredients and unique flavors of the region while sitting outside enjoying the volcanic views
WIFI is free but not the best…it depends where you are in the hotel.

Casa Palopó was an absolute dream! If I had to recommend a property to anyone looking for a luxury retreat… this place would be our top pick!
