CASA PRANA: The Best Luxury Hotel on Lake Atitlan

Never in our wildest dreams did we think we’d find a small paradise nestled on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala.

However, Casa Prana, a boutique luxury 5-star hotel, delivered the most unforgettable experience for us! An elegant and charming hotel offered us such a relaxing and tranquil experience. Check out our YOUTUBE video to see more of this stunning property!

The Spot

  • Casa Prana is located right on the northern shore of Lake Atitlan. To get there, you need to take a private or public taxi boat to the hotel’s private dock. It was quick and easy to communicate with the hotel via email (or text them via WhatsApp) to arrange transportation.
  • To gain entrance to the hotel, you need to communicate with the Manager once you arrive to open the front gate to let you in; again, WhatsApp is the best option.

The Vibe

  • From the second you walk through the gates of Casa Prana; you are immediately transported into Paradise. There are small details throughout the property that made us feel Zen, such as candles lit in every room of the property with peaceful music playing in the background of the common areas and lounges.
  • The hotel does a great job at maintaining a quiet vibe no matter how many guests are in attendance. We felt like we were the only ones there!
  • There are so many tucked-away seating and lounging areas in the gardens that it makes you feel that you are the only person on the property.
  • The décor is very bohemian; with fresh flowers sprinkled around the property and Buddhist statues situated through the grounds

The Space

  • We decided to stay in the biggest suite, and the most popular! The Prana Suite offers the most spectacular experience to feel like you are living luxurious for the night.
  • With a beautiful, draped king bed, master bathroom (with a view of the lake and volcano in the distance!), and private entrance with a balcony… we couldn’t have asked for anything more
  • A unique aspect of this room was the master bathroom. No need for me to explain…look at the pictures below!
  • Though we only stayed on one roommate the property, every room is uniquely decorated and offers its own experience.

Extras and Hotel Amenities

  • Yoga studio, with large floor-to-ceiling windows outlooking the lake. Though we didn’t have time, I would recommend the morning yoga so you can watch the sunrise
  • Gym
  • Sauna, you must ask them 1 hour prior so they can prepare it for you!
  • Pool, with bungalows and towels available. You can order drinks and food poolside as well! I ordered the most amazing almond milk cappuccino that I still dream about until this day!
  • Garden, all the food comes straight from their organic garden, so many vegan and vegetarian options too
